The 3 Steps

So a while back I developed this idea that you could take much of the wisdom of the recovery movement, self actualization movement and the GTD or life-hacking movement and boil the various ideas and advice down to three simple steps.

Step Back.
Step Up.
Step Forward.

Put simply you can take any problem or goal and apply these steps to it to transform it.

Step back and take a look at the larger context of your life and the world to see what a new perspective might bring to the problem.

Step up and take responsibility for your part in the problem.

Step forward and take action.

The steps inform each other but they don't come in order. The fourth step might be "repeat."

The idea behind all this is really to make it dead simple to remember and create a context for transformation that I could hang my tools on and maybe organize myself around.

So now I am starting this blog to see if I can flesh out these ideas and apply them to my life. It comes at a good time to do it because I am determined to make some major changes in my life this year and maybe I can test out the 3 steps on myself and see how they work.
